Cross-border strategy
Cross-Border Brand & Legal Planning
International expansion requires more than filing the same trademark everywhere. Brand, contract, entity, employment, privacy, advertising, tax, foreign-exchange, product, and sector rules may intersect in every target market.

Start with the business model
Map products, customers, channels, local partners, manufacturing, data flows, licensing, payment routes, and enforcement exposure. Then identify which legal work must happen before launch and which can be phased.
Clear the brand in context
Search registries and the marketplace for word marks, logos, translations, transliterations, domains, app names, company names, and regulated expressions. Clearance is an assessment of risk, not a guarantee of availability.
Align rights and contracts
The filing owner, operating company, distributor, manufacturer, licensor, and employer may be different entities. Agreements should allocate ownership, quality control, confidentiality, data, improvements, enforcement authority, and exit rights consistently.
Preparation checklist
- Target markets and launch dates
- Brand and product clearance
- Entity and ownership structure
- Partner, licence, and employment terms
- Compliance and enforcement plan
